Edith Ellen Tutoring provides enrichment through group and individual sessions which are guided by student interests. We cultivate curiosity and engagement through questioning and regular feedback. We offer Capacity Building support focusing on learning skills, confidence and social participation with peers.
We exist to support young people in finding their spark and love of learning.
You’re in the right place.
At Edith Ellen, we transform learning experiences for students who need extra support. We’ve helped reluctant readers and writers discover a love for learning, building both their skills and self-belief.

When children disengage from school, the impact on families is profound. Low confidence, lack of motivation, and a negative mindset can create a cycle of struggle. Our tutoring sessions don’t just improve literacy and numeracy—they build a growth mindset. This shift is a game changer. We’ve seen students who once avoided challenges now embrace them with confidence.
We welcome all learners, including neurodiverse students, who often seek inclusivity and practical life skills to thrive in their communities. Our approach goes beyond academics, incorporating real-world experiences that enhance social skills, independence, and community participation.
Your child’s learning journey starts here. Let’s help them grow, thrive, and succeed.

In the early 1900s, Dianne’s great grandmother, Edith Ellen Ward (1881-1916) was pioneering new ways of educating in New Zealand.
You could say teaching is in Dianne’s DNA.
Edith married Dianne’s great grandfather, Fredrick Joseph Parkin (1881-1956), in 1908. Together they dedicated their lives to helping people, including those in our indigenous communities. They had three children, including Dianne’s grandfather, Edwin Joseph Parkin (1912-1982-known to Dianne as ‘Poppy’). He was just four years old when his mum died at age 35.
Edith Ellen Tutoring is building on the legacy she created.
